NEPA COMPLIANCE

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires federal agencies to prepare written documentation of potential environmental impacts from proposed actions. Such documentation and the type and level of analyses may vary significantly depending upon the actions proposed, agency-specific NEPA requirements, and public input into the process.

  • Jason Associates Corporation (Jason) is a nationally recognized NEPA contractor.
  • Jason provides expertise in all activity areas necessary to ensure cost-effective NEPA compliance for our clients.

Analytical activities to prepare NEPA documents (environmental assessment, environmental impact statements, etc.) require that analyses be accomplished in a broad range of resource areas, depending on the specific nature of the proposed action. Jason has senior staff who are experts in the resource areas normally included in such analyses, including NEPA specialists, program managers, environmental scientists and engineers, biologists, land-use planners, economists, safety engineers, risk analysts, and public involvement and communications specialists. Jason staff has successfully performed analyses for a wide range of EISs and EAs, and other specialized NEPA-related tasks, including:

  • Development of Public Involvement Plans, and coordination and facilitation of public scoping meetings and public hearings
  • Identification and evaluation of reasonable alternatives to the proposed action
  • no-action alternative analyses
  • Tracking and resolution of public comments throughout the preparation of the EIS
  • Accident analysis
  • Floodplains and wetlands analyses
  • Cumulative impacts assessments
  • Integration of NEPA and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
  • Section 7 consultations under the Endangered Species Act
  • Cultural and natural resources management
  • Incorporation of environmental justice considerations
  • Preparation of EIS Mitigation Action Plans
  • Maintenance of the EIS Administrative Record
  • Preparation of the Record of Decision
  • Preparation of supplemental EISs and/or supplement analyses
  • "Red team" reviews of EIS technical analyses and program management performed by other contractors.
